| Review: | unprofessional, unreliable, ignorant of basics The claims process is a nightmare. Calliing to follow-up just compounds the nightmare. It's a full time job to follow-up. We have been taken to collections for the 5th time due to a lack of coordination by Unicare. It's a joke trying to talk to someone- it needs to change. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Unicare Sucks! I had Unicare insurance through my employer for a number of years. When I needed them, I discovered they really suck! Had a carotid stent procedure in December. Yes, I called re pre authorization, Dr office called twice, hospital called! Unicare told all of us that pre authorization wasn't necessary! When the claim was filed, Unicare denied it because they consider this procedure experimental! So why didn't thay say something to someone before I went to the hospital!!?? That procedure is done here several times a day---my Mother had one 6 months before mine. Apparently, Unicare would have preferred for me to wait 6 to 8 weeks with 80% blockage for a surgeon! Wish they had told me that! My firm was changing insurance companies the next month and I would have waited for a better company! Unicare always did do whatever they could NOT to pay a claim or any part of a claim. I understand they don't write insurance in Texas anymore!! Good news for us!! Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | I have never had problems with Unicare. I have never had issues with my Unicare plan. I don't know what plan these other people are on but they have always paid my claims within 2 days. My son has had 2 emergency surgeries in two years and because it was emergency I only paid $100 out of pocket. They paid over $12,000 for each one of the surgeries and not once did they ever fight the claim. My rate has increased over the last 7 years but that is happening with every insurance company. I require over $400 a month in medicine and they have never not paid for it. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | unethical, dishonest practices These people blatantly lied to me and my husband, saying that the doctors we saw were not in network. Upon further investigation in all cases we found that the doctors were in network and we had to continue calling unicare until they admitted this. They will do anything, including deceptive practices, to avoid paying claims. Is this even legal??? Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Unicare is the worst! Unicare regularly refuses to pay the promised 80% for doctors within their own PPO. My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed for a reasonable $1785. Unicare's payout - $343! Similarly with hand surgery, Unicare only paid 50% on their own recommended surgeon, when they promised to pay 80%. Unicare are liars, do NOT buy Unicare insurance. I can only hope that boards like these will put Unicare out of business. Comments [ 0 ] |
