Review: Ignorance and Deception is the name of their game
I purchased an Accident Policy with Markel as a back up to my primary coverage. I wound up getting injured over a time frame when I was changing primary insurance so I could not get it covered with either of them. No problem I had my back up insurance right? Wrong! I will spare the details but basically I spend 7 months getting the claim processed. During this time their claims department would state they never received any information for 4 months. At that point I got the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation involved and low and behold they came up with the information I had sent them. Now that they finally had the information we went through another 3 months of them stating they could not process the claim because they needed further information, however they would never contact me to inform me of what they needed. It was only through the OIFR inquires that I would find out what they needed. Eventually things did get paid, however I believe if I had not contacted the OIFR I would still be getting the run around from this company.

Review: HUGE deception from Markel Insurance company
I highly do not recommend to deal with Markel Insurance Company as their agents make a complete deception. I was trying to get health insurance with maternity coverage and agent Lawrence (877-883-9404 etx 2013) said that it has this coverage and when I've got the plan to review - it has nothing in common what he said by phone, Unfortunately my husband agve them credit card information, so they charged him and said that you can cancel any time till effective date - just need to call me. It was lye again - when I called to cancel they sent me to the Homeland Healthcare and it took hours to deal with them and explain that I want full refund for the plan I never used. Now I know that the plans with maternity coverage dont not exist anymore and that agent from Markel knew that too and he lied so awfully. When I called him to cancel the plan he transfered my call to another sales person that wanted to "improve" my plan with higher premium, Needless to say that this people are the most disgusting people I ever had do deal with. Please be aware.
