| Review: | Very Expensive I am a healthy, non-smoking 34 year old white male who exercises, eats very well, has no preexisting conditions and has never been to the doctor (other than for routine examinations), yet Humana has thought it necessary to raise my rates by 300% since I signed up in 2007. THREE HUNDRED PERCENT. In the third quarter of 2011, Humana recorded profits of $444.7 million. Enough said. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Humana has the worst customer service department! I am a health care provider that runs my own clinic. As such I do not have staff members to call insurance companies for me. I currently only have one patient with Humana insurance but I have called them more often than any other company. One time when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was put on hold for 5-10 minutes and then hung up on. When I started practicing at my new location Humana called me repeatedly (3-4 times per day) to get my new Tax ID information which I faxed back so they could update my information as a participating provider. Since then they have denied the claims I submitted to them and told me that it is because I am out of network. I have been calling them repeatedly and been tossed from customer service representative back and forth with no results Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Nurse/Medical Office Liasion - Humana the WORST Unbelievable! Pts that have been on routine maintenance meds are consistently being denied prescription coverage. Even patients on long-term, life-saving oxygen are being denied continued coverage. Someone please tell me WHAT is happening in the Country! Why all the cuts in medical coverage?? I suppose we can send all our patients to the local ER. Try to deny THAT service, which will ultimately cost you (Humana) more than approving routine maintenance meds and treatments that are life sustaining. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Liars I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer (islett cell tumor) slow growing. I have had 2 major surgeries which has left me on meds for pain management.3 years ago humana all of a sudden STOPPED covering the med I was on, so my Dr. switched me to a different med that I had to have higher dose to have same results as med no longer covered..that went good for a year till they just "bumped" me to tier 2 w/o letting me know, After many calls and letters from my oncology team they put me back to tier 1. Yesterday was my 1st prescription of 2012, When I picked up my meds I was surprised to see I was again bumped to tier 2 w/o being notified. I had to pay the cost since I got nowhere on the phone while standing at the counter getting my script (right after getting my infusions),When home I called humana, got transferred a million times, was finally told thru an appeal they would put me back to tier 1..As I was thanking them, I was cut off and told she made a mistake and I would NOT be put back to tier 1. When I asked why? I was told there was no apparent reason, but they would send me a letter. Bottom line is after they deduct my membership and I pay my co-pay I end up paying $131.00 for a script that only cost $61.89 total,,I fear if I get rid of Humana that when my cancer will worsen and I may need more meds...THEY MAKE IT HARD ON THOSE OF US WHO ARE TERMINAL WITH CANCER AND HAVE SO MANY MORE THINGS TO THINK AND WORRY ABOUT !!..I HATE my CANCER and I Miss my good healthcare I had when working Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Worst Insurance company in 42 years of my life. I have been in the insurance business for over 42 years and have never dealt with a company so incompetent as Humana. Every call to this company is transferred and then you end back up in the same place. It is just like the TV commercial I am Peggy which is a man. You never get to have your problem fixed. Also their RightSourceRx lies all the time and does not ship through the postal service as they claim. They use a trucking service then into the postal service so when the prescriptions finally arrive you are past out on the floor if you are lucky. Their prices for mail order many times are higher than the price to buy at a local pharmacy. If I have to pay more the transfer to another company, I will, but the Medicare makes you suffer until renewal date which can be up to a year of pain. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | ripped me off They upped my premium 42% without notifying me and claim they sent something in the US mail to me. I never received the letter and would have opted out had I received it. This company stole at least $300 dollars from me in the last 6 months. Beware of these thieves. I had a $5,000 deductible and NO preexisting conditions at all and they screwed me like I am some obese diabetic. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Forced Colonoscopy My husband has been with Humana for 2 years now and this has been the worst 2 years of our lives. They have uped his medications from tier 1 to tier 2 after promising this would not happen for the whole year of 2011. 3 months later meds he HAS to have are now a tier 2 generics!! With quanity limits that were also we were assured that their would not be QL. I immediately submitted a tier reduction form 3 MONTHS AGO. Nothing!! Now we have received a call from them stateing that they will drop my husband if he does not submit to a colonoscopy which, after it is done, they will of course deny the claim. They deny all claims. I have had it up to here!!We need to ban together. Here is what you do: 1. When you Call Humana or they call you RECORD all calls! 2. When they ask for any documentation, or send documentation make sure you make copies of EVERYTHING! Keep the envelopes to prove correct addresses and dates. When sending time sensative or very important docs send them certified mail. That way they can not say they never received it. 3. Ask for any and all documentation that your doctor may have. Remember that is your file and you have a right to have a copy of everything in it. 4. Keep a record of every interaction you have with them. Times dates everything you discussed. Buy a notebook that has numbered pages. That proves to the judge that nothing could have been added or deleted from your notebook. 5. DOCUMENT< DOCUMENT< DOCUMENT> 6. Documentation is the most important thing you can have and the more the better. 7. They believe most Americans are to lazy or do not know how to fight back but I do. Fight back, hope this helps!! | Review: | 2 Policies, 2 Premiums only Single Coverage I am covered under 2 separate Humana Policies. I received an bill for medical service rendered in the amount of $840.80. My primary policy only paid $179.10 of a Humana "out of network" maximum of $223.87. My secondary policy only paid $44.77 of a Humana "out of network" maximum of SAME $223.87. Leaving me with an unpaid balance of $616.93. Both are full policies, but refer to each other to obtain their maximum out of pocket amount. Humana receives TWO FULL premiums yet only pays out as if there is one policy. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | "Not our problem" I can't believe I just wasted another half hour on the phone with Humana's customer service reps. I don't even know why I bother to call them anymore because the response is always the same - "It's not our problem." My prescription coverage doesn't cover any of my prescriptions, the co-pays they list in my policy are never the same as the amount I'm charged, and whenever I call to ask about any of this, they tell me it's not their problem - and they don't even trouble themselves to be polite about it! The first chance I get I'm switching insurance carriers. Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Humana - Huge rate Increases I have rated Humana a 1 only because there is no 0 in the survey. This is by far the worst Health Insurance company After filing a complaint with the Alabama Insurance commission over my year end to year end enormus rate increases, which I know there was nothing they could do, but I at least wanted it to be on file. I finally cancel this Insurance under proper terms, and they want to bill me for an additional month premimum on top of a full month for which I would have no coverage. So inmoral!!! I will write another letter to the Insurance commission. This company needs to be booted from Alabama Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Why see a Dr. when you have Humana ! I have had cronic back pain for 11 months due to a car accident. My Dr. sent me to physical therapy which was out of network.. I paid for each visit 100% in full although each visit was applied to my $5,000 deductable.. After 9 visits my PT office called and said they were cancelling my future appointments because my insurance will not authorize any more visits and I need to go back to my Dr. I Went back to my Dr. 10 days ago he prescribed a pain patch to try for 2 weeks if it doesn't help come back and we will try something else. Went to pick up my RX and was told I had to have a pre-autherization. Dr submitted 2 requests and I got an automated call today saying they denied my pain patch.. When I called the rep. said it was because it's "experimental" my Dr. wants to try it to see if it works for me. Any other treatments that he "tries" will also be denied.. I couldn't believe it. People are given medications everyday to "try" because not every med works the same. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Humana Rate Increases I have a Humana Advantage plan thru my employer. In 2010 Humana raised it's premium by 42%. The next year 2011, Humana raised it premium by another 80%! I have asked for some kind of justification for such increases only to be ignored by Humana with no responses. There is now way medical costs have risen by those percentages. The insurance company lobbyists try to blame the new health insurance law. This is a lie.The actural increase caused by the law is only between 1 or 2 percent and this is only short term as the law will actually reduce the costs in the longer term. To quote a recent NYT article -" Vincent Capozzi, senior vice president for sales and customer service at Harvard Pilgrim, said that only one percentage point of the increases here was attributable to the federal law, mainly its requirement for free coverage of preventive services. Another percentage point results from new state laws requiring coverage of hearing aids and certain treatments for autism" So where does an 80% increase come from? GREED Humana is the worst of the lot.. Comments [ 2 ] |

When we finally got them to admit they were in the wrong it took them 8 months to pay us back, like idiots we stayed with them. Then my husband started having some problems and went in for a colonoscopy. We paid our detectable and Humana denied our claims. We are still fighting this one and it has been a year ago. Every time you call costumer service their is some new loop hole/excuse you have to go through. Most dishonest company I have encountered. | Review: | Worst Service Ever I have been trying to fill 2 prescriptions for my mom thru Humana RightSource prescription drug service for 3 weeks. Every time I call they have a different excuse. It's like they have a random excuse generator on their desk and none of the reps really know what is going on. They appear to have some serious internal communication problems. Have been thru 3 loops of can't fill because doctor needs to send prior authorization --> can't fill because it hasn't been ordered. Would you like me to order? YES --> Still no shipment. --> Order cancelled. Need prior authorization from doctor. Both the Dr's office and I are very frustrated. Looking forward to the Medicare sign up period so we can dump these idiots. No evidence that they care about patients. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Two increases in one year I have an individual plan with Humana One. When my husband went on Medicare last April, I chose to stay with Humana since I am not yet 65. I received a new policy number and a rate increase, now paying more than half of what we paid together. I also got a letter explaining that I would not get a rate increase for one year. Six months later I got $100/mo rate increase because Humana says that my policy renews on the old date of our joint policy. I questioned Humana aout this and they said it is their policy with "rollovers". The signed letter promising the same rate for one year means nothing. I am in excellent health, have never made a claim in 6 years, and pay $500/mo for $5,000 deductible. Comments [ 0 ] |

Everytime I call each representative gives me a different answer. I can't afford to use this insurance. Our company switched from Anthem to save money. I applied for a waiver for drug testing due to chronic pain and the lab was out of network. I was told only part of the company was out of network. That doesn't make sence to me. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I don't know why the medical profession accepts this insurance. They pay basically nothing. If you feel you have been wronged and have filed an appeal and lost see if your state has an insurance board and file a complaint. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Stay away from Humana In January, 2010 my employer contracted with Humana for our medical coverage! It is by far the worst plan I have ever been on!!!! They deny claims without any justification, tell you your doctor is in network and then when a claim is submitted they say he/she is not in the network and deny the claim! Everyone you talk to at Humana gives you a different story and you had better be sure to write down every detail of every conversation because they will deny having told you something that they did. My co-worker was on hold for over 50 minutes waiting to speak to a supervisor who then only said she couldn't really help! Their online provider network is never up to date and it is really difficult to even find a provider, especially in California. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Humana - definition of denial Our company switched to Humana on January 2010. The only thing this company does is deny all claims. I went to an urgent care clinic that was in network and humana denied the coverage. Same with a doctor that was even on their site as in network and they denied that claim too. After many phone calls they did claim they would run the doctor claim through again because there was "some mistake". I have yet to see it come through again differently though. I have never seen such a propensity to deny even standard claims that are shown as covered by their plans. It is awful. Our company switched to Humana to save a quick buck, so now I spend all my time fighting with insurance for basic claims. The old saying holds true - you get what you pay for. Comments [ 0 ] |

My husband has high blood pressure and high chlorestoral so has blood work done every 6 months and a follow up visit with his Dr. So far none of his claims have been paid. My son's pediatrician does not participate in Humana. My gynocologist is in network but my claim was denied saying they are not in network. The plan we have should cover me 50% out of network and 100% in network yet they denied it 100%! I have been on the phone with them once a month since June trying to get claims paid! It's like we have no insurance! Customer service is very nice on the phone and seem to be helpful but yet, we are getting nowhere. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | A challenge for all persons belonging to Humana The facts: it has taken Humana up to 19 months to reimburse me for one claim. Humana has issued an invalid check to me. I have spent over thirty hours on the phone with Humana trying to resolve the same issues. But, don't trust me for a review, as I may be viewed as a disgruntled client with no actual facts. Anyone who is a member with Humana: I challenge you to call Humana four times within the span of a few days... or even a few hours. Choose a few questons to ask them. Such as, what is the required amount of time Humana has to respond to a question I have, or what is the time limit in which Humana must respond for a prior-authorization request, or any other number of questions. Call a few times, ask the same questions, and see if you recieve the same answers. I will be surprised if you recieve the same answers to the same questions you ask several different representatives. This isn't the insurance you want, but find out for yourself. let me know if you have any questions at jtbirdiusrex@yahoo.com, thanks, and good luck! jenny Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Abhor Humana My employer contracted Humana as our company's health care provider in 2006. That year was the worst year of my life! Humana has no accurate provider information for the Pacific Northwestern states, and has little interest in helping their clients locate contracted providers. I finally convinced my employer to purchase me a family health policy from another provider. Comments [ 11 ] |

| Review: | Very unhappy with Humana I work for a small company and our group Humana health insurance has a high deductible ($2,500.00). This year (2007) after paying out and paying out, I finally met my deductible. Now that I have reached my deductible, Humana is denying many of my claims. I had surgery a couple of months ago with a PPO provider and Humana is denying the claim in full ($6,207.00). I truly feel like I am living without health insurance and am extremely displeased with Humana's unfair claims process and their customer service. Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Fortunate in Florida! My husband and I moved from Houston to West Palm Beach last year. We had only Medicare for health insurance as in Houston extra insurance cost several hundred dollars each per month - not to mention that most Doctors were unwilling to accept Medicare patients at all - including the Doctor we had had for many years. In Florida however, we were quickly and easily signed up with Humana Gold, which cost us NOTHING, except to sign over our Medicare A & B. The Doctors we have encountered here have been superb - and we have both seen many - as unfortunately we both were found to have cancer. The FORTUNATE part, however, is that we found Humana and its wonderful choices of doctors, hospitals, labs, etc not to mention our relief and surprise at the relatively small bills that we ourselves have had to pay. Some people may come to Florida to seek the Fountain of Youth - we feel we have accidently stumbled onto something even better from Humana - great medical care for a very tiny price! Comments [ 1 ] |
